Livestock Ministry Inaugurates PMS Champions for Performance Excellence

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Dr. Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi, has charged newly inaugurated Performance Management System (PMS) Champions to serve as change agents and ambassadors in driving a results-oriented culture across the Ministry.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary described the Performance Management System as a critical reform initiative of the Federal Civil Service aimed at enhancing productivity, improving service delivery, promoting accountability, and aligning individual performance with the strategic objectives of government.

She noted that the PMS Champions were carefully selected based on their capacity to lead change and support the successful implementation of the reform within their respective departments and units.

"The role of PMS Champions goes beyond monitoring compliance. You are expected to provide guidance, support and leadership in fostering a performance-driven culture across the Ministry.

"The success of this reform rests significantly on your ability to inspire others to embrace the Performance Management System and to champion a culture of excellence and accountability within the Ministry," Akujobi stated.

The Permanent Secretary urged the champions to develop a thorough understanding of the PMS policy documents and implementation framework, stressing that they would serve as the first point of reference for staff requiring clarification and support on the system.

She further assured the champions of management's continuous support in providing the necessary tools and guidance required for the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
